Forensic Heroes II

I have just finished watching Forensic Heroes II and to be honest I was slightly dissapointed. Ok I wasn't fanatical about Forensic Heroes I but I liked it, with Forensic Heroes II it was a different story, I watched it hoping it would be good but I felt it was lacking. The biggest thing it lacked was good cases. The cases just fell flat and were unimaginative, besides the final case I knew who the culprit was without much thinking. The final case was weird, I commend them for trying to hide the eventual culprit but they didn't develop it enough because of that. Their was so much potential in the final case that I felt it fell hugely flat their. Also what happened to Selena Li? Anyway I found Queena Chan to be very fake and extremely annoying to watch, I also didn't like the preachy stuff in the series because it made for extremely awkward watching. I also felt that Yoyo was way underused! Anyway I can't remember everything of the series but overall I wasn't very impressed. If there was a Forensic Heroes III I'd much rather they spend more time on developing cases even if it takes 7-8 episodes for one to finish! I also felt that this series seemed to be a sloppy lead in to the third series, everything about it just felt unfinished! Anyway I guess they want to promote Sharon Chan in Forensic Heroes III like they promoted Linda Chung. I just hope this years next big series won't fall flat like this one did (I'm talking about Moonlight Resonance). Ok as I am going to go away for a while I have decided to make a more thorough review. Here goes!

Relationships
Yoyo and Bobby
What happened, nothing really developed and after watching the whole series I nearly forgot Yoyo was even in it! Well there's not much to say about this relationship as not much happened. The relationship was just their because they couldn't kill off both of the main female leads. They couldn't have done another On the first beat! (Remember when Fiona died and Tavia was dumped!) I'd actually think they should have just dumped Yoyo when they made it seem like Yoyo didn't really think her relationship was going well with Bobby rather than drag her in right at the end!
Kevin and Charmaine
Well I don't know what to say, let's say it was neither great nor awful! They tried desperately to make the relationship seem more explosive (no pun intended) but they didn't really have good enough foundations for it to be heartbreaking!
Frankie and Charmaine
I don't even want to talk about it! So much potential but what happened! Was their even a point to put this relationship in! It was just to lengthen the series so that they could get mroe cases in!
Florence and Raymond
Though only on the supporting cast I felt this was an Ok relationship. It was obvious they would get together anyway!
Family/Friend Relationships
Charmaine's Family
I also felt that this story was underdeveloped and I don't like how after they were all lovely dovely that they just ditched it!
Yoyo and Bobby's family
Not much to say because they didn't do much

Cases
Erm as I said I didn't really like any of the cases. Their was potential in some but they weren't developed at all.

Characters
Bobby Au Yeung
To be Honest I felt he didn't act as well as he has in other series, though it wasn't bad their wasn't anything commendable about it either.
Charmaine Sheh
I think her "trying to be funny parts" were like a carcrash to be honest but she did well in other areas. Still has a lot to improve though.
Kevin Cheng
He was Ok but his role didn't interest me much. I think he did the best he could.
Frankie Lam
Yet again he was Ok nothing outstanding really but Ok.
Yoyo Mung
Didn't see much of her but she did Ok overall.

Supporting Cast
Raymond Cho
A good support, that's all
Florence Kwok
Ok but she wasn't at her best in my opinion
Kara Hui
She seemed a little awkward at times but she did Ok.
Shirley Yeung
She did a good job actually in my opinion.
Astrid Chan
Ok but sometimes seemed slightly fake.
Vivien Yeo
I liked her actually, she did her best in a restricted role
Other notable Supports (for any reason)
The Mr Hong Kong's
Bland, fake and unemotional! (oops slightly too harsh but true)
Chris Lai
He did well, I see potential
Selena Li
Like always I liked her, she is improving which is good.
Bad mother character (in the case where the man burgled her)
She was convincing as a bad mother but her crying scene was slightly fake.

Also one thing I realised was that the background music was weird at sometimes e.g. the music which I think was supposed to be for scary or evidence scenes were overused. Secondly I felt that everytime they left the episode at a cliffhanger the next episode would just take 30 seconds to finish it - bad developing in my opinion!)
I was thinking; why didn't they make an evil main character in detective series!
Overall the series dragged for me, I think they could have easily done this in 20 episodes!

Ok so I have watched:
War Of In Laws II (some missing eps)
Tai Chi
D.I.E.
A Journey Called Life
Catch Me Now
The Silver Chamber of Sorrows (some missing eps)
Forensic Heroes II
Currently Watching
The Money Maker Recipe
Wasabi Mon Amour

So here is my ranking!
1st - Catch me Now (by far the best this year)
2nd - A Journey Called Life (A solid title)
3rd - The Silver Chamber of Sorrows (currently tentative, may drop to 4th)
4th - D.I.E. (not fantastic to me)
5th - War of In Laws II (currently tentative, may drop to 6th)
6th - Forensic Heroes II
7th - Tai Chi
I have a feeling that TVB are using Roger Kwok as I lever to promote other actresses and actors. By putting him in series with these certain artistes Roger will increase their star power e.g. with Sonija Kwok.
Dogs on the beat - basically a Journey of Life cast but Steven acting evil - I'm not sure that will work.
Well I'll be leaving for Hong Kong on Wednesday but I'll be back to post on When a Dog Lover a Cat and Moonlight Resonance!
